The Hulk!
So as I stated before, I also buy and sell cars and trucks...
Well, I picked up this bad boy (The Hulk) from a guy who was actually selling me some of his pawn tickets...
Yeah, check it out. www.SaveMyPawn.com (<-- Another original idea from Jarrod Pettit)
Basically, people who have pawned items, and can no longer afford to pay on them or simply don't want to pay on them anymore call me.
I ask them:
What they pawned
How much did you pawn it for
Then, I ask them how much they want extra (on top of the pawn amount) they want for it.
If it makes sense (cents), I buy it.
Anyways, back to the story.
The guy had pawned some guns but he needed more money than I could pay for them. So, I asked him if he had anything else he could sell. And so, I ended up buying his truck.
It felt like my old high school days driving this thing. I'm not going to lie though. I really liked it.
I brought it home and Rebecca (my wife) said I was no longer allowed to bring it home because the neighbors would think we are up to no good....
So, it was a short lived relationship. (with the car.... not my wife)
The truck was a 2003 Dodge Ram with the GTX Hemi engine. (yeah, it's a beast)

Have We Forgotten?
As I stated before, I have several "Cash 4 Gold" stores. Nearly every week, a variety of old coins, currency and other antiquities make their way my direction.
Last week, a man brought in a hand full of early 20th century coins along with this War Ration Book.
It contains Ration Stamps that were used to purchase produce and other goods that the American Government rationed during World War II.
This particular Ration Book belonged to a 14 year old male and was issued in 1943.
I find it extremely hard to even fathom a world where I can only purchase one loaf of bread, one gallon of milk, etc. We have been raised in a world where this seems completely outlandish.
However, what really struck me was written on the back.
Here, on the back, they list out the rules...
What really made me stop and think though is what you see on the bottom in quotes and italics...
"If you don't need it, DON'T BUY IT."
WOW!! I thought. What a concept. Our culture today is the COMPLETE opposite.
"If you want it, BUY IT."
Could this be a cause of our current economic situation? We are bombarded with consumerism and the ability to spend beyond what we earn.
I often feel nostalgic when I hold these old items but in this particular case it made me feel sad. What have we become?
I want a nice car...
I want a nice house...
I want Modern Warfare Black Ops..
I want Halo Reach...
I want, I want, I want...
I'm not trying to be the Grinch here. I just think that many of us have lost track of what's important.
I today, can not think of ONE thing that I NEED.
I know that many people DO need things and I believe that is where my attention should go. Not towards my selfish wants.
Anyways, I may have rambled a bit here but I just wanted to remind everyone that it was only about 2 generations ago that WANTS were a luxury...
Lets try and apply the "If you don't need it, DONT BUY IT" mentality to our lives...

From the beginning...
Well, after much encouragement (nagging) from my wife, I have decided to start a blog about my life and the many different financial pursuits I engage in...
So, let me first introduce myself in-case you have inadvertently stumbled upon this blog and have found yourself instantly captivated!
My name is Jarrod. I am currently 27. I have a beautiful wife and nearly 8 month old son (Deacon)!
My father owns a mortgage company and also does a lot of different investing and so I guess the apple doesn't all too far from the tree and the entrepreneurial spirit lives in me too!
Over the past few years, I have mainly been involved in real estate. However, as you can probably guess, this is not the most lucrative of businesses at the moment.
Since then, I have tried a variety of new ideas...
- Website w/ date ideas
- Ebay Buying / Selling
- Buying / Selling Cars & Trucks
- Cash 4 Gold Stores
- Automated Stock Trading
- Buying / Fixing / Selling Houses
- Buying / Fixing / Renting Houses
- Buying / Fixing / Owner Financing Houses
The ones that seem to be working so far and that I am still currently engaged in are:
- Cash 4 Gold Stores
- Buying / Selling Cars & Trucks
- Buying / Fixing / Renting Houses
I enjoy the Cash 4 Gold stores the most as I get to see (and buy) some of the coolest stuff!
This will probably be the main material of my blog... When interesting items come in, I will let you guys check them out.
I will also chronicle some of the rehabs I do on houses and show you some of the cooler vehicles that come my way.
Anyways, I look forward to showing you the more interesting aspects of what goes on in my life!
Until next time...
